Students will read and discuss foundational literature and engage in hands-on activities using modern networking tools, including:
- Blogs
- Web feeds (such as RSS and Atom)
- Wikis
- Social networking applications (such as Facebook, Mahara, and MySpace)
- Course management systems (such as Moodle)
- Multi-user/multimedia social spaces (such as Second Life and Scratch)
Major Project requirement
Students will be expected to design and construct a significant networked learning activity.
Expected background knowledge
Basic web and email skills.
Hardware and software requirements
Mac OS X (G5 or Intel processor strongly recommended), Windows Vista/XP, or a recent Linux distro.
High-speed Internet connection strongly recommended.Grading

The focus of this course is Technology and Education Reform. You will be required to reflect and discuss the current use of technology in schools as well as develop a major project.
